I think a good answer for "How will you pay for your agenda?" is "We're a very rich country. We'll figure it out."

After 9/11 we found literally trillions of dollars for war, massive increases in domestic security (an entirely new agency!), and a Medicare drug benefit. No one spelled out "how to pay for it" ahead of time and yet somehow it got paid for.

We’re a rich country is right, but debt financing has its limits. When Bush cut taxes, debt was 34% of GDP. When Trump cut taxes it was 77%. Now with Trump’s trillion dollar deficits, debt is outpacing growth and will exceed GDP. Our pockets are getting empty. @FixtheDebt

Right. I think large sustainted increases in social programs will need revenue, but I think people are very fuzzy about what's wrong w debt. Even the debt as % of GDP isn't as relevant as the servicing, which is growing, though remains dealwithable.

Dealwithable? Maybe. Desirable, definitely not. Interest is already the fastest growing part of the budget; we are borrowing an awful lot from overseas; and it leaves us very vulnerable if interest rates go up.

So, as part of the blue wave, dems are going to rescind the tax cuts for the rich, right Democrats?
