    Glad to be working with you on this, . Education is a basic need and right, and we must ensure that it continues to be a major part of the U.S. humanitarian response in Afghanistan, especially to preserve the gains in female enrollment.

    Today, I led a letter w and 37 colleagues urging the White House to safeguard NGO-led education activities in Afghanistan. Education is a stated priority of the U.S. and without these legal protections, our commitment to the Afghan people is under threat.

    attended the ninth annual Diaper Drive hosted by the San Diego Food Bank at Mujeres Brew House. Affording diapers and basic baby needs is challenging for many families. I’m grateful that these drives will help families across San Diego County.

    129,000 kids in have benefited from the expanded Child Tax Credit this year. Monthly payments are helping families pay the bills that come with raising kids. We cannot stop here – it’s time for the Senate to pass Build Back Better and extend the payments through next year.

    Nine years ago, 20 children and 6 adults were murdered at Sandy Hook. We owe it to them – and to the victims of gun violence everywhere – to act. I will continue to fight for universal background checks, an assault weapons ban, and other measures to make our communities safer.

    Globally, the impacts of the pandemic have been especially hard on children. Today, I introduced a resolution with calling upon the U.S. to prioritize children in rebuilding efforts. UNICEF’s 75th anniversary is an opportunity to help kids around the world thrive.
