Nobody is asking for gov't to own the means of production. Social democrats are for the common good. Public education, universal healthcare, etc. Taxes are necessary for these things. Things that we view as super progressive are viewed as centrist in the rest of the world.

"American capitalism" just means socialism for the rich only aka bailouts for Wall Street right?

Fire departments are socialism. Public schools, police & the military are socialism. You are a corporate socialist; you voted to give trillions of dollars in tax breaks to billionaires. You gave American tax payer dollars to Jeff Bezos. He makes $245 million/day.

Polarizing the country into this Capitalism vs Socialism debate is irresponsible. Responsibility will be reasonable discussions about healthcare costs and removing laws that destroy the environment so that businesses are unregulated.
