This week, Congress considers H.R. 3, a partisan bill that would put the federal government in charge of setting prescription drug prices. H.R. 3 jeopardizes American innovation & patient access to care. In fact, the CBO estimates we could see 15 fewer cures over the next decade.
Instead, let's work on bipartisan policies that lower costs without hurting innovation, like:
Capping seniors’ out-of-pocket costs
Increasing price transparency
Authorizing the FDA to quickly approve generic drugs
How about negotiating the prices of drugs?
Or letting people get their drugs from Canada, where their government actually works for all the people, not just the people from their party.
Why are seniors the only ones who should get a cap on out-of-pocket costs? Expensive drugs hurt everyone. Like children with parents who can't afford meds, even with insurance. Or diabetics who can't afford insulin. Seniors aren't the only ones who vote; you'll find that out.
Why are drugs cheaper in Canada? Because the government can directly negotiate the price with drug companies. This should be occurring here in the States as well. You weren't hired by Big Pharma, you have to remember that you are in office to work for the needs of Americans.
