State and local law enforcement and school districts must be allowed to decide how best to keep their students safe. When I was sheriff, I put school resource officers in our schools so that trained and armed officers could be ready if needed.
But to some communities, like rural districts with small police forces, school safety may mean an armed administrator or teacher in the classroom to immediately respond to a threat. I applaud @GovRonDeSantis for doing what's right for Florida's students.
Teachers should not have guns. They are in the classroom to teach & nothing else. If they shoot a student by accident is the governor willing to be held liable? Are the teachers thinking about the legal ramifications & lawyer fees? It's a dumb law.

People will die due to accidental discharge of firearms in the school. Statistically, this *will* happen and it will happen multiple times.

Specious argument since it’s never been done, and there are no statistics to back up the benefits or draw backs of armed teachers. ...Why not experiment with Florida’s children?
