Maybe don't use a meme featuring the guy who had ample opportunity to fix our healthcare system and only came round to
#MedicareforAll after leaving office...

Couple this up with infrastructure being allowed to disintegrate, it's only a matter of time until we have a full on plague scenario...people getting simple illnesses from public utility then die from it without insurance.
-
Don't forget all the kiddies that haven't gotten their vaccinations for childhood diseases.

While this is an awful story, it has nothing to do with medical insurance.
#medicare4all is nice political slogan, but it doesn’t fix the system. Government bureaucracy is not going to make our health care system better, although there are steps the government can take to help. -
I disagree. Medicare is in place and working for the people on it. It has a 4% overhead compared to 24% for insurance companies. I believe it can be done and even improved. The problem is the insurance companies' paychecks shrinking.
-
Medicare’s low overhead results in massive fraud and abuse. To get it functioning properly we would likely get to the same 24% overhead the private sector is at now, that is assuming the government is as efficient as the private sector.
-
Essentially, we would have the same system just adding government bureaucracy, typically not known for their efficiency. I think the government plays a roll in fixing the system just not in running the system.
-
The system is in place and working, no additional bureaucracy needed. I agree that the government could improve Medicare.
-
Who will pay for Medicare Part B? Govt pays for part A, I pay for supplemental Part B.
-
Do comprehensive healthcare. Pay some & govt pays the rest. It's a govt program now. Squeeze insurance cos. for lower prices, (Medicare already does this, so virtually everyone can afford it & those that can't are part of the pool and get coverage that way. Just like car ins.
-
Medicare doesn’t do things in a vacuum and costs don’t disappear because the government says so, they just get redistributed across the system. Lower prices to insurance companies mean lower payments to providers. 1/

U.S. health insurance has become a profiteering level profit center, while many Americans literally die due to financial hardships. The United States is the only industrialized country in the world that isn’t providing a basic level of health care for its people.

So sad, even people with insurance r treated same way in ER. I was incredibly sick, had insurance & ER STILL treated me like crap & sent me home. I almost died. Lucky I found naturopathic dr who helped me. But not covered by ins it took all my $$. Our whole system is broken.

As I replied to the origin tweet, the US health system is based on greed. Medical care should be free, paid by general taxation. Not by individual insurance, & certainly not to generate a profit. Sadly the UK where I live is sliding towards the US system too, by stealth..
