If you can do this more cost effectively than the federal govt efforts to fight terrorism, that’ll be great. $1trn annual budget deficit yet we are still being hunted in schools and churches by angry young (usually white) men.

can one of you "libertarians" explain this logic to me? When is it ok for the government to do stuff? Not for health care or food, but high speed internet?

The federal government is $22 trillion in debt. Rural broadband is not a function of the federal government.https://www.aier.org/article/let-the-market-not-government-provide-broadband-to-rural-citizens/ …

Rural broadband requires at least some modicum of public investment, at probably both the state and federal levels. Phone companies don't have the capital to just replace all the copper wiring with fiberoptics throughout rural America.

If private industry could bring broadband to these communities they’d have done it years ago. It’s not profitable and requires public investment.

I thought that when the government pays for something, Republicans call it "socialism." Can you explain why subsidized healthcare is full bore socialism, but this isn't?
