Rep. Richard Neal’s Tweets

Democrats do not defend fraud. Let's not conflate the need for unemployment insurance with what happened during the course of the pandemic. I'm proud of what we did to ensure people could keep the lights on, turn the heat on, and make it to the grocery store every single day.

"The idea... [of] this group out there in America that doesn't want to work because they can secure #unemploymentinsurance benefits... that's nonsense." @RepRichardNeal hits the nail on the head that #UI - supported across both sides of the aisle - was key to lifting families!

30 years ago, I proudly voted to make the #FMLA the law of the land. American workers have shown their resilience over the last 3 years, and Congress must show them we have their backs. Ways & Means Dems won’t stop fighting until we deliver paid family & medical leave for all.

OTD in 1940, the first Social Security check was issued to Ida May Fuller of Ludlow, Vermont. While Republicans continue to use the threat of cutting Social Security as a bargaining chip to raise the debt ceiling, Democrats are committed to protecting these hard earned benefits

Before we talk about cutting Social Security and Medicare, let's talk about the trillions of dollars added to the deficit thanks to Republican tax cuts. The debt ceiling is not about new spending. We pay our bills. It's the full faith and credit of the US government.

Westfield Wastewater Treatment Plant is a reminder that our nation's infrastructure is aging. That's why I fought to secure $1M to construct a new operations building center, ensuring the dedicated public servants at the DPW can continue their critical work in a safe environment.

Seniors have earned their Social Security benefits through contributions over a lifetime of work. It is the foundation of retirement security, and yet Republicans are threatening to take it away. Democrats will not let this happen.

IRS Commissioners Charles Rossotti, a Democrat, and Charles Rettig, a Republican, both agreed: the U.S. is losing out in unpaid taxes, while the highest earners continue to skirt their responsibilities. This is about tax compliance and honoring the honest taxpayers in America.
