Private prisons are a multibillion-dollar industry – and growing. CoreCivic (formerly Corrections Corporation of America), the largest operator of private prisons in the U.S., has seen its revenue increase by more than 500%, from about $280M in 2000, to $1.77 billion in 2017.

I agree to a certain point. But, you only have to look at what happened to Jeffrey Epstein to see how well underfunded public prisons work. We can hold private prisons accountable; public prisons seem to be immune.
