El Centro is many miles from the border. They have a wall in Calexico, the nearest border to El Centro. The NYT is probably not the best source for border city sentiment. I live in Yuma, on the border, and I want more than a vehicle barrier.

I live on the border.Before the fence, illegals were on our yards at night, constantly. Now with the fence and more BP agents, very rare. Less break ins and car thefts . The fence makes a big difference !!
