DC is a federal district separate and distinct from the states of the union. It has it's own local governance and has some say in national elections. There is no need for statehood. Maintain the original intent for the federal district.

The District is expressly mentioned in the Constitution and it's purpose. It was intended to be an entity outside of statehood.
