Congressman, I support background checks but they will not stop the gun violence here in Chicago, and saying it will worsens the dialogue. Look into the research that has been done on how people here get access to guns. These are two separate branches, albeit on the same tree.
Our country is in the middle of a gun violence epidemic. In Chicago, we are all too familiar with its impacts. It's been over 100 days since the House passed #HR8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act. It's time for @senatemajldr McConnell to bring #HR8 or #S42 to a vote.
