1) I grieve for the people who lost everything. But I too live in FL on a bay in a flood zone and had to evacuate during Irma. I chose to live there despite the risks because I want to be close to the water. If I had lost everything during Irma, it was my own fault....

2) So maybe the governments should not allow building in flood zones to reduce the cost of disasters. No, life is short. People should live where they want as long as they know the risks. But everyone else shouldn't have to pay for their recovery. Decisions have consequences.
