All 5 of these men brought their families to the US to escape #gangviolence in their home countries. They came hoping for a better, safer life for their loved ones. Instead they were separated from their children & have received no update on their children since being detained.

One man broke down when telling me about how his young daughter was ripped from his arms. This is inhumane and traumatizing.

ICE is promising to find out where these men's families are and give them updates. I'm horrified that they don't already have that information.

4 of the men put their trust in our legal system and tried to cross at the boarder & seek asylum. 1 was afraid of violence at the boarder and tried to cross elsewhere. Didn't make a difference. All were detained.

This must stop. We're calling to end this policy & demand hearings to hold this Admin accountable for their inhumanity

I want to help...tell me what you need me to do...

Continue to speak out, spread the word and encourage your friends and family to do the same. We need to keep up public pressure to change this policy and hold the Admin accountable.

Thank you for being a voice for our voiceless. I know as a mom I feel helpless. But I will continue to call, write and show up where I am needed. This will be stopped on our watch.

me too...and I am not a mom...
-
Thank you. And you do not need to be a mom to care about children or what is right. You simply need a heart and a soul, which you have in spades.♡

I would have never put my children in such a position.
-
Muster up some empathy, and try to imagine how much worse staying home must be for their kids. And be thankful you have always known peace and security
-
I haven't always known peace and security. Dont assume. But i have experienced the consequences of illegal immigration. Do it legally
-
I assumed you were born and raised here. If that’s not true, I apologize. If it is true, then I stand by my original statement. None of us have known the desperation that comes from having no alternative than flee our homeland.
-
you truly think every person crossing that border fleed violence?
-
I think that what is happening in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras is so widely known that I would certainly believe someone claiming asylum from those countries and do anything possible to support them while adjudicating their case - including keeping their kids with them.
-
they cant. by law. change the law.
-
The law doesn’t require breaking up families. The Flores Agreement - note it was an agreement reached through mediation, not law - allows unaccompanied minors to be “detained” in this way. It does not require every asylum seeker to be jailed and their kids taken. Read up.

Hope you will follow up with visits to the facilities that the NY ICE Field Office runs. These are the Hudson County Jail and the Bergen County Jail.
