In 2016 alone, Social Security lifted over half a million Texas women out of poverty. Without Social Security, the poverty rate of elderly Texas women would have increased by fourfold.

After 83 years of successfully protecting our seniors from poverty, too many Republicans would still prefer to weaken Social Security. The recent Republican tax law adds trillions to the national debt, jeopardizing our ability to preserve Social Security for future generations.
