The funding bill passed by Democrats tonight wasn’t a serious attempt to reopen the government, but the beginning of a stunt that takes time away from finding a solution.

It has been clear for weeks that in order for a funding bill to pass the House, the Senate, and be signed by the President it will need to be a compromise. The Senate has said they won’t consider this bill and the President has said he would veto this bill.

I hope that we can get to work finding a solution to reopen those closed portions of the government that includes important disaster funding and border security which is desperately needed. Unfortunately, the bill today lacks both.

How about the Senate bill that passed 100-0 the other week? Was that a stunt? Seems like a reasonable thing to do considering that this wall is so unpopular that the only way you can see to pass it is to hold the operation of the federal gov hostage

FEMA as well as State disasters relief is already being offered so you could have easily voted to open the Federal Government and pay it’s employees. This could be discussed after the opening. I say give up your pay, health benefits, etc, and then you might take it seriously.

I concur with other constituents don’t vote for a physical wall but border security. Walls only help in urban areas where we already have walls. There’s private land, mountainous terrain, Indian Land treaties will have to negotiate, AGAIN. Then there’s Canada n Entire coastal areas

So you would rather be bullied by Trump and waste money on a wall that won't work...? Cool. Great plan.

Also the President could have held his Republican Congress over the holidays to solve this problem. Why didn’t he if this isn’t just him being child?

The disaster is the 800,000 who can’t buy food diapers medicine pay rent etc. whose protecting their family’s health and safety? Congress should adopt families to support while Trump has his temper tantrum.
