Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula was never going to come easy, so today’s development shouldn’t come as a surprise. Making a deal for the sake of making one doesn’t achieve real peace, as we saw with the failed JCPOA with Iran.

The President is right to walk away from the table if the North Korean regime is balking at basic demands and continuing with provocative and dangerous rhetoric. The surest way to achieve peace is through strength.

The United States will continue to apply maximum pressure on North Korea and Kim Jong Un until he ultimately realizes he must give up his nuclear ambitions.

As for the reports that foreign journalists remain in North Korea, I’m confident @SecPompeo and others in the Administration have contingencies in place to ensure they will not be detained or harmed. If not, I would urge them to do so.

To be clear, the JCPOA didn’t fail. It was torpedoed by a misinformed executive and a complicit Congress.

Are you defending Trump? Please stop. You are silent on too many other issues to jump on this. Try your best to support Kansans and do the right thing.

Sorry Kevin, It seemed like POTUS was a little to eager and was maybe not totally prepared for dealing with NK. Same old stuff except our Prez legitimized Kim (in his eyes). You should be very wary of 45. Don’t stand too close.

You remain a tremendous disappointment to not only Kansans but to all Americans for not calling out this lying treacherous President. How you sleep at night amazes me #Hypocrite

Kevin, it seems everyone is up in arms with Trump whether he met with Kim or not. Don't hear anyone saying "maybe Kim is getting incredible internal pressure not to meet"?

I think you meant making a deal so the president might be eligible for a Nobel Peace Prize isn't the reason to make a deal.

Heaven help us. It was always going to turn this way, instead of following around after DT, push for experience in this area. You do realize that you are a separate branch of government, right?
