Question about H1B visas - another issue I’ve worked on in Congress. One of the best ways to combat illegal immigration is to ensure folks can legally come here and contribute to America. Right now our system incentivizes illegal immigration - that’s wrong.pic.twitter.com/TPD858jGq1

How about not pitting immigrants against each other? The H-1B system is broken. Your bill addresses the preference visa system, a separate, similarly broken system. But we can actually fix both and *still* not demonize the other 11 million here. It's possible.

#hr392 also increases the Family Based per-country cap from 7% to 15% which reduces the wait times in approximately half for the most backlogged countries waiting in line to immigrate here via family ties. Thank you @RepKevinYoder for your leadership on this common sense bill!!!

No doubt, and I'm a supporter of the bill. But it doesn't address the problems with the H-1B system, which Yoder claims in his tweet to have done. Just keeping them honest.

There are 700-800K H1-B’s (mostly Indian & Chinese) in the country today - cannot get Green Cards because of the per-country cap If they had Green Cards they would be able to negotiate & not have a supressive effect on wages. #hr392 is a non-punitive enforment bill - win-win!!!

We don't seem to be in disagreement. My point is that Yoder hasn't done anything to fix the actual problems with the H-1B system - no matter whether we like this other bill he has championed on a separate but similarly-broken system. Have a great day.

H1-B cap is 85K/yr. If @RepKevinYoder bill gets 700K H1-B’s Green Cards faster, over time H1-B population goes down by ~88% (1-85/700) - is a BIG deal. Fixing H1 visa will be a HUGE battle with big Tech - unlikely outside Comprehensive Immigration Reform. #FixingWhatHeCan

I get it. You're not actually addressing my point, but everything you're saying is correct. His tweet was factually false, because, while important, his bill doesn't address the problems inherent in the H-1B system (H-4 EADs, employer abuse, fraud, job shops, etc.)

You assume there is only one way to fix the problem - but getting H1-B’s “off the street” - so as to speak also ameliorates the problem. Statutory changes to H1 program are needed, but there other things can be done for eg #hr392 & POTUS enforcing law: https://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/eAgendaViewRule?pubId=201710&RIN=1615-AC13 …

By 2020, 25% of worlds workforce is anticipated to come from 2 countries India and China, with these facts is it the interest of America to keep cap for GC based on where d person was born? #EqualityForAll #SaveH4EAD #DontRevokeH4EAD

Damn straight! Passing #HR392 removes incentives for companies to hire foreign labor and levels the playing field for American workers. Lets do this!

Thanks much @RepKevinYoder for highlighting H1B issue and fighting for LEGALs right, As it’s seems like USA only care and like/prefer ILLEGAL Immigrants. Nobody cares about legal immigrants who pay taxes, support economy and never use benefits from social security/government.

You are paid for by the immigrationvoice lobbyists. They're not even US citizens but they're trying to lobby and push a bill? Absurd! The H1b has destroyed the middle class and been hacked by people from India. These are low tier workers, not high skilled! It's a scam!

Indians have single-handedly hacked the H1b visa. 85% of H1b went to Indians. Most of their paperwork (degrees, resumes, work experience) is fake! This is fraud in our legal immigration! The employment based green card backlog is a result of fraudulent applications from India.
