Today, I convened a community roundtable for an important discussion about school safety and gun violence that I believe should be happening across this nation.pic.twitter.com/V9DRf9D23f

Thank you to @OlathePolice Chief Steve Menke and his staff for hosting this critical dialogue and to Dr. Erin Dugan for facilitating the discussion. And thank you to all the other participants for joining me today.pic.twitter.com/P6IiTPJAek

That isn’t leadership. You just wrote five paragraphs of text that say nothing other than patting yourself on the back for showing up at an event for constituents. In order to lead you first have to offer something to the conversation. #ksleg

What’s wrong with holding a discussion with a range of viewpoints present and able to speak?

Nothing. It isn’t like this is a new issue though, if you want to lead as the only person in the room with a vote in Congress, tell us where you stand. That takes more courage than @RepKevinYoder usually demonstrates.

He has said where he stands: He supports a ban on bump stocks, he isn't going to support the ineffective gun control measures being pushed, and he isn't going to stop taking NRA money. (Which is funded by individuals who value their gun rights) Leadership =! support gun control

I agree we should expect our elected leaders to clearly state where they stand on high profile issues. Public opinion is shifting on this issue - there is an opportunity for advocates of varying positions to influence their reps, particularly in a district like KS-03.

Good try but I’m guessing your donations from @NRA will likely influence your positions. If you want to be a real arbiter on gun violence, return your NRA money

Thank you Kevin. We appreciate the work. However, you will need to return @NRA donations to make sure that all work is done for the Kids. Not the NRA.

As long as you're taking NRA money there's no reason to believe that this is anything more than a PR stunt to make you look less like the stooge you are.

Who did you invite? Not teachers because they don’t want guns in classrooms. Only you and your NRA buddies do. How do you sleep at night?

He falls asleep peacefully after surveying his bank account. The minute this guy loses he will be registered as a Washington lobbyist never to return to Kansas again.
