The devil is in the details. While the NASA budget preview includes an encouraging increase, it's nowhere near the $5-6 billion that NASA's Bridenstine said is needed for a 2024 Moon landing. When we talk about plans as big as returning to the moon, the details matter.

I agree. The details matter. If we can spend $1 in a way that draws in $4 of investment and revenues from the private sector and encourages competition and multiple ideas. That would be better than spend $2 and being only limited to the government as a source

All the more reason to build in sustainability and a return on this fantastic investment. This requires lunar resource utilization to stimulate commercial interest. Also, lunar ISRU enables Mars. Lunar ISRU must be in the Moon to Mars program to make both sustainable.

If you care about science, going back to the Moon is a major scientific initiative. With Apollo we explored only about a percent of the Moon's surface, & since then we've found that there's a LOT more to learn there than we could have found 50 years ago.
