Today's #MasterpieceCakeshop ruling is disappointing, but it is NOT the sweeping "license to discriminate" that anti-LGBTQ extremists were looking for. SCOTUS affirmed LGBTQ civil rights & acknowledged LGBTQ people have a right to live free from the indignity of discrimination.
That being said, the only way to ensure LGBTQ Americans are protected from discrimination — whether it’s in a bakery or in housing, employment or public education — is to pass the Equality Act.
Also, for the couple and others to establish precedent in their favor.
My main concern when this ruling came down was legal precedent and its impact.
