Outrageous. Trump's careless words feed into stereotypes that endanger Chinese & AAPI students, & harm our own economic future by driving students away from STEM for fear they'll be targeted for studying while Asian. We know where this prejudice can lead.https://www.politico.com/story/2018/08/08/trump-executive-dinner-bedminster-china-766609 …

It's awful. Chinese students are spies. Latinos are criminals & rapists. Blacks are stupid. Neo-Nazis are fine people. The most disheartening aspect of it is the portion of the population willing to undermine the pillars of our democracy just to hear racist rhetoric from trump.

Your know what? He doesn't need to worry. China is already established globally, and especially in Africa. He's handing them their cake on his gold plates and serving it to them by the truck load.

“studying while Asian” I think Trump’s hate is focused at Chinese, not so much at the rest of Asia, the Malay, Persian, Russian, or Indian people Trump voices the modern version of “the yellow peril” You take him on You won’t be alone

You mean “Oriental” “Oriental” was perfectly good English. In many cases it is the best translation of the Chinese “dong fang” It was murdered by PC police at Berkeley in 1987 “Asian” is content-free Might as well say “Earthling”

So where do your loyalties lie Judy, China or the US? Do you deny that China is our chief opponent worldwide, and that they do engage in espionage against the US? How do you think they do that? Your colleague, Senator Feinstein, had employed a Chinese spy for years.

Loss of Chinese students from STEM program is in fact happening right now regardless of Trump and is even desired. India supplies the vast majority of STEM students now, who tend to stay in the US post graduations. Rich Chinese brats don't want to study hahttps://twitter.com/RepJudyChu/status/1027313283278229504 …

Of course not all Chinese people are spies, but a number of Chinese visa students HAVE spied on us while here, working in research projects with professors, or while interns in our companies. It's disingenuous to imply otherwise.

Judy, did you actually read this article? Trump was talking about extending visas for these Chinese students for an additional 5 years. And intelligence officials have long determined that many students from China have been involved with spying for China, not Trump.
