Truly disgraceful. A majority of @housebudgetGOP members just voted to defeat my amendment to help Gold Star families & surviving spouses. Instead, they protected tax breaks for big corporations & millionaires. You have to see it to believe it. https://yarmuth.house.gov/press/budget-committee-republicans-vote-to-protect-millionaires-over-gold-star-families-and-surviving-military-spouses/ …pic.twitter.com/247gNBhLwn

Nine GOP members who voted no are cosponsors of legislation that would do the exact same thing as my amendment. They put tax breaks for millionaires ahead of ensuring that surviving military spouses receive the benefits they were promised.

I am one of the 64,000. Why are we treated so differently from other federal surviving spouses. They get their full benefit but yet we don't. 😔

They should be ashamed of themselves. Seriously. Decades of not paying out widows SBP insurance payments when our service members paid with their lives. This is ridiculous. Its not like $1200 monthly means anything to my family - it's all just crumbs, I guess.

Why is this even being questioned or held up?? @RandPaul Maybe the Senate should take it up? Do we support our military and their families or not?

That is funny. You know The president just signed a bill protecting them right and adding funds for caregivers for veterans before 9-11. And the reason they turned that one down Democrats had other things in the bill. We can keep going round and round. I am a vet I know the laws

I am a surviving spouse affected by this unfair and unjust offset. Policy makers made concurrent receipt for themselves and left out the dead. Guess they thought no one would fight that fight. WRONG! Widows are fighting.

It’s not unusual at this time. This legislature cares nothing about anything but the 1%.

Womack embarrasses himself with his response as he receives his own taxpayer- generated salary and benefits. “Let them eat cake”
