I am pleased that the President finally took the necessary step to reopen our government so that federal employees can return to work and get paid. This could have been avoided in December, but this administration used the shutdown as a tool for a political agenda.
This shutdown had a negative impact on federal workers&their families &on our economic &national security. To ensure this never happens again our leadership must put politics&emotion aside and focus on the policy&evidence of reasonable border security&necessary immigration reform
Over the next 3 weeks, our leadership must put politics aside &have a serious discussion about the policy of border security &immigration reform so that we can keep our government open and provide security for our nation & a pathway for those who want and deserve to be part of it
Any reasonable review of the evidence indicates there is no “crisis at the border”. We need immigration reform and a path to citizenship for DACA recipients. Not a wall that will have no impact on resolving anything. Forget this fabricated distraction lets work on real issues
