The idea that the number can’t be set higher because we are not sure if there is the capacity for resettlement orgs to process makes no sense. If they can’t process, they won’t. But also, these orgs have been preparing for this since Biden won b/c it is what he promised to do.

They have hired staff, put all preparations in place & now are left in the lurch. My office has spoken with several of the orgs: none of them believe capacity is the issue. Many refugees have already been processed & are just waiting to be resettled & reunited with family.

Are you willing to take in a few immigrants? That would be helpful!

Thanls for explaining what a cap is. Also, why set an unrealistically high number as the cap. You may as well have no cap then. But what you will have is a gifted talking point to the Repubs about open borders and such to beat you endlessly with.

Give him some time Rep Jayapal. He came in to an unprecedented train wreck and is doing a great job given his challenges. I get that he is not moving fast enough to your liking, but my question to you is, maybe, how can you perhaps help instead of criticize? Find ways to help

This is refugee status only? Asylum seekers are a different group? As are others seeking legal immigration status? This is confusing.
