The GOP could have forgiven that debt instead of giving $1.5T to the top 1% who didn't need it

Fraudulent loan providers aren't the problem. The problem is the overall cost of education leading people to get 5-6 digits of federal loans. And predatory schools (deVry, etc) taking advantage of the federal loan program.

I know it probably won't happen but i hope they go in the direction of making school free

This debt slows the economy, they can't buy homes or cars...can't pay the bills...we bailed out the banks, time to bail out the students!

America’s students are $1.5 trillion in debt. The shocking actual size of the Wall Street bailout? $14.4 trillion and counting. It is beyond time to bailout U.S. citizens with student loan debt, the majority of whom are women, not banks! https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2009/12/real-size-bailout-treasury-fed/ …pic.twitter.com/nw2LRptH1S

College students are adults, not children who need to be protected. They assumed the debt and spent the money; I see no reason why my tax dollars should be used to bail them out. And not everyone wants a college education.

It ain't worth the paper its written on. All they get is brainwashed to be good socialist sheeple.

If tuiton was REGULATED to be affordable, there would be $1.5 trillion more in the real economy. Instead, the prices rise indefinitely (there's no market when there is always demand: Education, Health, Social Security), and you have $1.5 trillion in banksters's pockets.

If only my student loans disappeared! Life would be less stressful!

Why wait for Jayapal to rob the rich for you? Just go break into some Mercer Island homes and do it yourself.

How about figuring out why college is costing so much and is constantly raising tuition?

One of my private loans a few years ago was for $12,000 to cover tuition. Now I owe $20,000 and it just keeps growing. This is usury and should be illegal. We should cancel 100% of student debt and tell the investors they should have never made such risky loans in the first place

No, outright cancellation of ALL student loan debt in this country. You'd vastly improve the mental and physical well-being of millions of millennials ABD turbo-charge the economy. The things I would be able to to buy and save up for if I didn't have those debts hanging over me.

Yeah. That’s fair for those of us that actually paid our money to the institutions that we promised to pay. Like seriously. Do you have any pride or sense of self worth? Your father must feel like a failure for raising someone looking for something for free. Sad.
