.@NYTMag cover is long look at the politics of #immigration & raises the work ahead for Dems. I've always believed that immigration is not just abt policy, it's abt who we are as a country & what we're willing to stand up for. Proud to be profiled in this.https://nyti.ms/2C6sFxW

If they really wanted to end undocumented immigration, they’d seriously crack down on employers of undoc’d people. Big fines. Jail time. They don’t. They want cheap, powerless, replenishing labor they can underpay and abuse without adhering to pesky employment laws.
-
If businesses couldn’t skate for hiring undoc’d people, they’d clamor for real immigration reform. But that would mean increasing wages, benefits and employer vulnerability to consequences for illegal and unethical behavior.
-
If there is a pool of qualified, legal workers, why are undoc’d people hired? Either there’s some benefit to employers or there’s not a large enough pool of workers. Americans will die without immigration. (Immigrants provide a lot of elder and child care.)
-
GOP wants women out of the workforce, back in homes. The immigration debate is closely tied to the white Evangelical misogynistic ideal society. No immigration (legal or otherwise) means someone has to stay home. Women can’t work. They can’t leave abusive relationships.
-
This means power reverts to men. With half the workforce unemployable, unemployment is zip and wages go up. Men control the money, they control the home, they control the government. They control everything. No competition means we don’t get the best people at the top.
-
Men can relax, go back to the Mad Men existence most never lived in the 60s: drinking before noon, grabbing asses of the few women left in the workforce, calling it a day by 3 to fit in 18 holes before dark. If women are forced to rely on men even Stephen Miller could get a wife.
-
Even more than racism, misogyny is at the root of Trump’s immigration “policy”. Stealing nursing infants is the obvious part. The long game is not so much to hurt people from other countries by keeping them out of America. It’s to regress to a time of white male superiority.
-
One last point: why do Republicans make the cost of living for most Americans rise every time they’re in power? Why are they against family planning? Why is it nearly impossible for 1 person to support a family?

The difference between u & dems and Republicans is Repub r looking at fixing the problems within, America first. You, on the other hand do not. So much better at being a Republican where America is first and fixing America a priority. Immigrants can go 2 another country.

The concentration camps are in America.
