The met was designed the way it is so it didn't become beholden to partisan politics and bickering and could focus on the entire metro area. It does a great job. I'm not surprised you want to bring it down to your level.

How is it not partisan politics?? They are appointed by the Governor.
-
There's hard requirements that they represent the demographics of the constituents in the metro and have expertise in urban planning. Requirements the gop want to remove and replace with popularity contests. We're going to end up with a less qualified board that infights.
-
The infighting is the politics I'm talking about. When they are all appointed at least they're on the same page. They also don't want the board representative of populations, but of areas, which stiffles the voice of the majority of residents.

Dear
@RepJasonLewis, I had to double check that this didn’t come from a parody account. You’re talking about accountability? You who hasn’t had a town hall to hear from your#MN02 constituents? You who hasn’t done his job in keeping the president accountable? Right. Got it. -
He voted for a huge tax cut that benefits 95% of the country. He voted against a huge spending bill. I think he is doing what we elected him to do.
-
@RepJasonLewis swore to defend the constitution. On his first day in office,#cadetbonespurs violated the emoluments clause. Last week the company that he still owns took $500M from the Chinese government. The#GOP Congress isn’t doing their job. I’m afraid we disagree. @MN02 -
The constitution, like the second amendment?? He is a strong supporter of the second amendment. Unlike his opponent who wants to ban and confiscate guns.

Lewis refuses to be held accountable by his own
#MN02 constituents, creating private, invite-only events w/ pre-screened ?s, disallowing responses, and refusing to release video/audio of the “public townhall” convos. Someone buy Jason a dictionary and highlight “accountability”.pic.twitter.com/DMgJSH1F7z

“If Lewis wants to claim that "robust dialogue" and listening to his constituents are top priorities, then he has to allow us to actually speak instead of actively discouraging it.”

Jason Lewis, talk about accountability...hold a real town hall at the MN fairgrounds. That’s big enough for everyone. Explain your healthcare vote. Explain your tax scam vote. Explain how it is that nothing has been done on DACA, or why Jared K has security clearance!

So we can have a council that issues tickets and denies entry to meetings? What is your definition of accountability? Why don't you host a real townhall and ask us.

Typical of
@RepJasonLewis to want the control of the Met Council to be in the hands of people who don't know the area. He doesn't even live in the area he's supposed to represent. SadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

With all due respect, Mr. Lewis, as a member of the Federal government, what Governor Dayton does or does not do is none of your businesses. I thought you Republicans were all about the Feds not interfering with State government?
-
Michael, I respectfully disagree. The article talks about the way federal dollars are spend and how Representative Lewis just changed that bill this past spring.
-
Federal funding doesn't give the Federal government any right to control state affairs (especially a single term Congressman). The 10th Amendment doesn't care if you agree or not.
-
10A does indeed give rights to the states that are not listed in the bill of rights. It does not indicate how finances are or should be allocated and appropriated though.. Your statement confuses me, if Federal funding doesn't give the feds any right to control state affairs...
