Hate to rain on your softball interview
, Rep. Lewis, but ... I have some questions on administration & congressional plans for tax reform. -
There has indeed been talk of C-Corp tax reform, some of which would include repatriation. But you claim that this would *increase* revenue
-
sufficient to pay for $1trillion infrastructure project. You must be thinking of quite different tax reform from that about which I've read.
-
Both the
@WhiteHouse and the@HouseGOP would like to greatly reduce tax rates on C-Corps - to the tune of 20% - from 35% down to 15%. That'd -
be the largest tax reduction in all of US history. How would that generate additional revenue for infrastructure? Is the idea that S-Corps
-
would be motivated to switch over to C-Corps? Even then...I can't imagine this *increasing* revenue w/these drastically lower rates.
-
But you talked a lot about repatriation. The plan has been that no longer would US tax be paid upon repatriation (minus foreign tax credits)
-
but that in most cases no US tax would be paid on repatriation, but rather just a one-time transition tax. This also doesn't seem like it
