How about you draft a bill to tell OPEC to stop buying Saudi Oil. Or limit how much they can sell. You could always divert that demand over to Venezuela as a supplier.

Um, because we aren't part of OPEC, and Saudi Arabia is. Oil is now a global commodity & it isn't so simple anymore.
-
And? Should that stop us from telling our vendor upon what conditions we will buy from them? If they dont comply then just use the oil we discover and refine ourselves.
-
You are clearly talking out of your depth. Being a global commodity means if someone anywhere is buying their oil, the global price reacts accordingly. It's like asking for air that has never been in a shipping container. How would you even go about implementing your idea?
-
I dont know probably the same way Trump got Saudi Arabia to increase their oil production. Or we could just vow to never buy any oil except what American oil we produce ourselves.
