Since the processing of meat products predominantly happens in a few meat packing plants in the US th industry was hit hard by COVID. The President signed a bill limiting the liability of these plants to their workers allowing them to stay open with unsafe working conditions.

The fact that the government had to step in and give these large businesses special treatment to prevent market failure hows that they have become monopolies that need to be broken apart to ensure compensation and flexibility in the face of future troubles.
