Florida has 374,884 children who stand to lose their health insurance if the Senate votes to shut down the government today. I hope my colleagues will do the right thing. This drama is senseless and unnecessary!

Oh please. You’ve had months to take care of CHIP. Instead you’ve set up a false choice between CHIP and DACA. Enough already. Do both!!!

Please spare the American people your feigned outrage; #CHIP expired over 100 days ago, but your party (with majorities in the House and the Senate) decided that bargaining leverage in future debates was more important than children’s lives. #TrumpShutdown #GOPshutdown

You had more than 100 days to reauthorize and find appropriations for CHIP before now. Now seeking to force a choice between 9 million kids and 800,00 Dreamers (more than 70% of Americans want a permanent DACA solution). Disingenuous tweet.

Yes kitten, since the @SenateGOP had an opportunity to deal with it last year, but decided to hold the poor children of this country hostage, as a bargaining chip to fund a wall we don't need or want, while ensuring their won't be funds to cover it. https://theintercept.com/2017/12/03/chip-childrens-health-insurance-program-tax-cuts/ …pic.twitter.com/nxGhwskPc8

You’ve had since September to take care of CHIP. Even the Graham-Durbin bill from last week would have taken care of it. Now we’re left with a shithole shutdown.

The GOP has and has had all the votes needed to reauthorize CHIP, and they could have done it at any point. They chose not to. This is a GOP government. #Trumpshutdown #GOPshutdown

Incorrect. Ds have been pushing for clean CHIP funding repeatedly. AND included Community Health Center funding (CHCs mostly serve rural areas). Rs have reused to bring it before now, hoping to use 9 million kids as a "bargaining chip."

DACA is supported by more than 70% of the voting public, with wide support even in Rs voting blocks. This is a no brainer and the party has succumbed to extremists when moderate policy could pass with easy bipartisan support except for Rs not bringing it to the floor.
