It is still impossible to fathom that 45 years later a NATO ally, Turkey, can brutally invade and STILL occupy an EU member, Cyprus. Nicosia is the world's only divided capital.

In Turkey, critics of the regime are purged and killed. It’s not a normal place. It never reformed after the genocides. Cyprus reflects that long, tragic history.

Turkey did not invade, intervened. If Turkey did not intervene greek cypriots would have slaughtered all the Turks. Turkey is the peace keeper in the island.
