It's not just insurers - doctors and hospitals need to make public their fees so patients can shop around for the best deals. Insurers should create some sort of incentive for their clients to do so.

And our nation wins as a whole if we move to universal coverage. We are last in the race of developed countries to understand this! Our national health indices as compared to other nations (spending related to health results) is in the toilet.

I have worked in a for-profit hospital and competition is not the game . Insurers, hospitals and clinics are driven only by the bottom line. They provide the least required for the most money. Check out a little co. Called CHS. Huge profits, low pay, giant bonuses.

.....except similar programs have worked elsewhere.
