I’m going to be charitable and assume that dental school didn’t offer a ton of political science course. Just remember: it’s never too late to get acquainted with the facts so you avoid sounding like proximity to nitrous has done harm to your brain cells.
Enacting amnesty in 1986 didn't result in increased border security or any of the other enforcement promises made when leg was enacted that gave amnesty to 2.7M people. I oppose amnesty in all forms & will continue to fight & vote against any legislation that includes amnesty.

You know what increased the number of undocumented immigrants in the US? Increased security at the border. Pre-Reagan, men migrated, w/out drama, to the US and went back to Mexico. Repeat. With border enforcement, returning to Mexico & then back to US was too risky; they stayed.

They were poor in Mexico and couldn't eke out a living. Since returning to Mexico and coming back to the US was too risky for deportation -- and they needed US income for their families in Mexico -- their families came to the US to be with them.
