As part of the landmark 21st Century Cures Act, $1 billion was allocated to states to address opioid addiction prevention & treatment. This funding – already distributed to states in need by HHS – will have a real impact on those suffering from addiction. #OpioidEpidemic
This year, I'm teaming up with @RepDebDingell on legislation, the ACE Research Act, that will better allow the NIH to partner with innovative companies doing cutting-edge research to address the #opioidepidemic & get addictive pain medications to those in need.
This bipartisan legislation was recently advanced by @HouseCommerce and is expected to be voted on by the full House in the coming weeks.
