The government shutdown is not *just* about the wall for me. It’s about how we govern. Remember, the govt shutdown began while Republicans still controlled the House, Senate and White House. Ilast week, we voted for the Republican-controlled Senate bills to reopen the government.

We did that in the Democratic led House on a bipartisan basis. It was the Senate and President who changed their minds, only after receiving criticism from TV show commentators. If we acquiesce now, both the President and these TV commentators will know how to hold us hostage.

As long as elected representatives get paid during shutdowns they will continue to happen. Introduce a bill that prevents the Senate and Congress from being paid and there will never be another shutdown. #ImpeachTrump
