Democrats and Republicans in Congress have shown a willingness to work together to defend our border, as we were elected to do. This cannot be supplanted by unilateral executive action.
I took an oath, both during my 20 years in the Navy and now in Congress, to support and defend the Constitution. This unconstitutional action by the President will steal from military readiness in response to something that is not a true national emergency.
Every American who is concerned for the future of our democracy should stand up and say this is not right – and not the will of the people. This is a dangerous precedent and must be stopped.
This impacts us in many different ways: an escalation of drug use & trafficking, gun violence, increased murder, gangs, higher medical & welfare costs, an escalation of rife humanitarian issues & the degradation of our national sovereignty. This is an emergency so build the wall!
