Kudos to you, sir! It’s been suggested Congress’ pay should be withheld BY LAW if they can’t manage to keep the gov’t running that they’re PAID to run. Maybe that would be incentive enough. A bill to this effect would be roundly welcomed by most voters of any Party, IMHO.
His base is literally seeing evidence that is the opposite of what he says and yet they still support him. Any man that can stand in front of group of soldiers and lie with a straight face, while being fully aware they know he is lying, is extremely dangerous.

It is important that you all continue to receive your salary or else decisions will be made out of selfish pursuits.
Holding their salary gives them incentive not to stall. The reason Trump isn’t budging is because the shutdown doesn’t impact him, and he doesn’t care about the people it does impact.
