In 2017, the % of Americans who were food insecure decreased from 12.3% to 11.8%, a decline- one that still left more than 40M food insecure people, in 15M U.S. households. 7 years into the recovery & country still hasn’t reached 2007 pre-recession food insecurity rate of 11.1%.
400,000 residents in Philadelphia are in poverty. Half of these individuals are in DEEP poverty. President Trump’s claim that the “War on Poverty” was a success is categorically wrong and eliminates the struggle that millions of Americans are currently facing.
