How can anyone believe what you say when you can't even clean up a dirty lot in West Philadelphia? I challenged you and you didn't lift a finger to clean it up!

Good Grief, man! We're already paying $1,000/yr directly just to educate city children whom we'd never begotten! We don't even know these strangers! Where does it end? We never even attended public schools, ourselves! And we're sending our newest family baby to Catholic School.
-
Because if they dont get an education they dont get jobs and if they dont get jobs their more likely to end up commiting crimes. Its what we can do for our country.
-
Okay, okay - but the Department of Education doesn't teach them anything . . .
-
They get a ged. which you need to apply for jobs.

Funny, I seem to remember a lot of the kids I went to school with in those same conditions, we learned? But I guess that’s when kids were tougher? I can’t remember air conditioning in my Elementary or Middle schools?
-
i can remember most of my poorer classmates not learning in those conditions...
-
Really, so it was your poorer classmates that couldn’t learn under those conditions? Are you sure? Maybe you just feel you are better than they are? Maybe wealth isn’t the only difference, maybe it has to do with parenting?
-
it was pretty hard for anyone. the disadvantages of not having money for supplies and computers and books and regular healthy meals. But theres also Scarcity mentality. and the fact that poor children are more likely to be in single parent homes, with poorly educated parents.
-
Back when I was in school, we didn’t have computers, we still learned. Sometimes we weren’t even allowed to use calculators to do our math for us. Maybe if we weren’t trying to buy a new computer for everyone in the class, we’d have more money for books?
-
also computer skills are needed these days for alot of jobs. as are calculators if your doing more than simple math.

The gang populations are a symptom of the connected poverty and war on drugs problems. they are humans acting like humans do when society fails to provide.
