I taught in classrooms with no AC for 35 years, and I promise you, learning was definitely not at its peak when the temps hit 90 and up.

How about use the damn soda tax fully for school renovations instead of it going to the "general fund" aka the slush fund.

I hope your bill gets support! I’m not sure what it will take for people to come together and solve this riddle. Climate change is forcing our hand!

I went to grade school in the 80s. I dont remember ever getting out of school for heat. Why are kids getting out today? New buildings hotter? Oh wait, they are still the same old buildings.
-
How often did you go to school before Labor Day?
-
Never, but a few days didn't make that much difference. We were also in school until Mid-June when they get out early June now.
-
I’ll bet you walked uphill both ways too! In a foot of snow no less.
-
There was a foot of snow and newspaper on my feet but it wasn't uphill both ways. That would be impossible.

Too many
@PPSnews schools are not equipped with air conditioning. It impacts learning, behavior, and absenteeism. Thank you@repdwightevans for your leadership! - 1 more reply

Agree. My daughter has asthma, her class AC was out,not the 1st at school. Walking home she was red, struggling, & nearly hit the pavement. I'm taking a fan in, b/c an AC unit won't be allowed-they've been "fixing" the air since May & so much all summer.

I’ve been trying to get someone, anyone from
@PHLschools to respond to my inquiries about the conditions of my son’s school for the same reason and no one has responded. No action at all.

I’m confused, how does a public school qualify for a tax credit?
-
Thank you! I was wondering the same thing.
-
Tax credits are used as a financing tool these days that are leveraged with for profit entities through financing companies. The credits have value in the financial markets.
-
Do they have value to public schools then? When floating bonds?
-
Are you asking if tax credits can pay public school bonds
@Gove77?
