Min wage in PA is $7.25. The avg rent in Philly $1,525. Philadelphians work 211 hrs a month to have a roof over their head -- not including the cost of healthcare/food. 1.5M residents in PHL simply want affordable housing, grocery stores, & health care. Is that too much to ask?

This is misleading. A minimum wage worker is certainly not living in a place with AVERAGE rent. As a constituent, I am embarrassed by your innumeracy.

Because usually they are sleeping on someone's couch. 7.25 isnt enough to pay rent. But it's to much to receive foodstamps. There is no win. There really are poor ppl in Philadelphia!

Unless you also put a cap on expenses, raising wages won't work. All business will raise their prices if wages go up!

Yes, this is how it works. People scraping by always get screwed. The minimum wage needs an increase. It is not moving at all along with the rate of inflation. Do you suggest we just do nothing ? People working full time should be able to eat and pay rent.

Something does need to be done for sure. Raising wages isnt the only answer. I hate the health insurance plans, but free health xare isn't the answer either. If frivolous law suits were dismissed instead of being allowed, all prices could drop

Free health care is an option. Same as Canada. And the UK. And other countries. We pay a tax in one pot of money that is specifically for medical. We all get the same care. Rich or poor. Most of us on see our doctors 2x a year. Ppl wont be as sick from stressing about it.

Not free! No one will ever get care if its free! People from Canada come here because they can't get in there!

That's is a lie. Certain surgeries have a waiting list. So they opt in to either The U.S. Mexico Etc.for faster care. Not better. I work for a Canadian couple. Who took off on vacation for a month so she could have her baby in Canada Free of charge.

I see this often claimed about countries with national health care. I have heard minor complaints but never heard anyone coming here for care. I have two sisters working in highly regarded major city hospitals and we talk about it often. I think it is story we have been fed.

Yea. I dont think ppl are coming g to the US for care in ways that are being spoke of. Yea some come here for not wanting to wait. But other wise. Who in their right min would want to pay a giant lump sum of Bill's. Verse a tax coming g out your paycheck annually.

$1,525 and climbing for a studio. It’s crazy. It’s time to give the American workers the raise they have been denied for years.

Section 8 in this city takes care of those with minimum wage jobs who think they are doing their part by working one job while they live in $8 housing as other residents pay the rest of the bill and they drive cars they can’t afford either

What suburbs are you referring too where apartments cost $900? Pottstown?? So now people are going to have a 2 hour commute Yall have absolutely no critical thinking skills.

Royersford Phoenixville yes Pottstown Boyertown collegville limerick, non of which are a two hour commute, you may ask how do I know this, bc I live right by Pottstown and it doesn’t take that long. Thank you for critically thinking

OK, so I trade in the high rent, but now I’m paying for gas bc my commute has tripled in distance, not to mention a car payment/insurance because you need a car out there. Otherwise with public trans, it *will* take 2 hrs. One size does not fit all.

Again move to a cheaper area and get paid the same or more so you can actually eliminate that commute. These are all excuses if you wanna make more money earn it don’t expect govt to hand it to you
