Dude thank you! And you’re my congressman. My youngest starts kindergarten in the fall and I’m at the mercy of the school district because he has special needs. I won’t even know what school until August. Luckily my oldest won the lottery and is in GWCS.

Crumbling, unfunded, and un-maintained schools are a huge problem that need state and federal attention. but let's avoid the suggestion that old buildings are a problem. U Penn, for example, seems to do be doing just fine with its stock of 100+ year old buildings.

schools are a local issue not a federal issue. The school system was built to educate the baby boomers which was a large number of students. Today's student is much smaller but number of schools has not decreased. Schools should be consolidated to reduce operation costs.

Yo, did you miss the part when Phila school district closed dozens of schools in the past decade? Or the part where dozens more schools are operating at 100%+ capacity? Or the part where support staff have already been cut to bare minimums?
-
Yo. The system is clearly operating above its means and this problem has been decades in the making. The federal government should not bail out the city for lack of planning. Clearly real estate taxes need to be raised to address all the problems.
