Increased competition in the rebate system actually raises prices - pass formulary rebates back to patient and make sure PBMs can’t make up for it with admin fees and price protection rebates
Pharmacy benefit managers shun transparency and game the system to charge patients more and reimburse pharmacies less. It’s time we stand up to their anti-competitive tactics.

@MattieRheumMD at WRA this past weekend, w selling house analogy: the higher bid (ie the higher list price), gets the house (ie@PCMA will “sell” formulary position to highest bidder, which has higher list price).

Pay pharmacy benefits on behalf of sponsors so nobody cares what drugs really cost, just their copay. They are payor & competitor because they own mail order. Oligopoly that steer patients. Remove formulary nonsense. Simply put they should act as PBA (administrators) on flat fee, as it was 20 years ago. What I think is each state should demand fraudulently charged $ back from PBMs, as Ohio is asking from optumrx.
