Don, could you specify how you “served” the T1D community? By voting FOR #Trumpcare which would deny coverage for #PreExistingConditions? T1D is, you know. Or cutting $ 6 bill from NIH budget, incl. 20% from NIDDK (diabetes research)?

F you think Eisenhower is too left I don’t see how you can accomplish anything meaningful for any American. You should explain what you’ve done instead of pretending extremism helps.

@RepDonBacon those people all have preexisting conditions. Your “Hell Yes” vote would have made them uninsurable. -
How have you determined this assertion?
-
Diabetes is a preexisting condition. The vote in spring 17, aka “Hell Yes” https://www.omaha.com/livewellnebraska/dems-hope-bacon-other-gop-incumbents-will-be-hurt-at/article_36297086-99ed-5f0a-85c4-84aa78c3b652.html … would have removed universal prohibition on discrimination via higher rates or refused coverage for those with preexisting conditions.
-
I do not know the full details of this legislation. But someone disabled because of diabetes who is receiving SSDI would likely also be receiving Medicare. And someone who is working with that illness should be able to choose healthcare at a price determined by the marketplace
-
One of the highlights of the ACA was Protection for people with preexisting conditions. Marketplace plans often had lifetime limits on coverage, or were priced so high that many couldn’t afford them.
-
I think the pricing is the issue then — and that can be regulated better to affect a positive change. Putting the government in charge of the whole program would grind everything to a halt and reduce the value of care, IMHO
-
Actually we agree on a lot. Pricing was one of the things fixed by the ACA. It also implemented some foundational services that were included. Again, this is what R’s we’re trying to repeal without a replacement.
