The impetus for the Constitution was Shay's Rebellion. G. Washington crushed the Whiskey rebellion in 1791. "Founding Fathers" were not fond of armed uprisings. The Jews had guns and resisted. But it took the combined might of US, USSR, UK, Canada 6 years to defeat the Nazis.
