After being invited to the United States to receive life-saving medical care, Isabel and her family became the target of the Trump Administration’s cruel immigration policies when she was given 33 days to leave the country, a move her doctors say would be a death sentence.

Isabel is one of my personal heroes and she deserves to stay in the country and to continue receiving the medical care she needs and deserves. I am proud to lead her fight in Congress and so pleased she is joining me for the SOTU.

To all the folks who would like to see Isabel Bueso taken off medical care and deported (for her, a likely death sentence): It’s not a zero-sum game. The US can afford to offer medical deferred action and also take care of its citizens. Pro-life? Or only for people you approve?

Why Americans First if a person is here and desperately needs medical care? We can afford to take care of people without delegating some as less worthy than others.
