I applaud @POTUS @realDonaldTrump for laying out a three-pronged approach to combat the #OpioidEpidemic. In order to end the crisis, we must cut off illegal drug trafficking, reduce over prescription and increase access to treatment.http://cbsn.ws/2pleWwf

We will need a multi-faceted approach to end the #OpioidEpidemic, and I am proud to have passed a bill that will combat drug trafficking from transnational criminal organizations. More here:http://bit.ly/2HMUOd2

May I suggest that you spend (actually do this) some time on a cancer ward, post serious surgery ICU's, post-op intermediate TX wards. IF you do not distinguish between those w/intractable pain and junkies, then you are doomed to make matters worse.

Indeed I am one of millions that suffer rare diseases and in my case Dr's are terrified to prescribe a pain med that would actually help. Brain disease can be horrible chronic pain. Most die from suicide can't take pain anymore.

My heart goes out to you and thank you for sharing, When non doctors, non-clinicians meddle in issues related to pain, almost w/out exception, these people make things worse. In my experience, pain patients would do ALMOST ANYTHING rather than take pain meds.

True. I'm 55 and never addicted to anything. Proper medicine could greatly increase quality of life.

2nd Part 2, opioid addiction is bad, but shouldn’t be happening. STOP THE ILLEGALS AND BUILD THE WALL. Start teaching our children how to stand some pain so they grow up BETTER. Just like everything else, we have made “BABIES “ not men & women.

Build the damn WALL & work hard to stop aliens coming in to OUR COUNTRY with their drugs from China through Mexico. I have severe pain but no drugs control ME. These people don’t hurt anymore than me & NO DRUGS CONTROL ME.

Stop drug trafficking, control supply and increase addiction treatment. My God, that's brilliant! No one has ever thought of that before.

There are a number of other good ideas that DIVIDER Trump and his team have done little to advance, like getting health insurance companies to cover mental health and substance abuse treatments as well as cover other medical treatments, something required by federal law.

Maybe stop cutting those who needs their meds of their meds so they don’t go to the streets to get drugs cheaper and easier! My brother may still be alive then huh

Good thing the right to take drugs wasn't written in as an amendment to the constitution 250 years ago, or you would really be stuck.

If you take away opioids from chronic pain patients who really need them. Will you support assisted suicide for those patients, or letting them get on heroin?

I agree that something should be done for those that have NO MEDICAL NEED for pain medicine, BUT WHAT ABOUT those who have a LEGITIMATE NEED AND CAN PROVE IT MEDICALLY?? Those whose lives are helped by them? They need to suffer because of addicts? NOT FAIR OR HUMANE.
