The fact that unemployment pays more than a regular salary is the real disincentive. Pay people a living wage and they will work.

Thank you! In my industry, we’re definitely seeing a problem with the extra $600 at this point. While it was needed earlier, it now serves as a disincentive for people to return to work. It needs to end on July 31st as scheduled.

Or, hear me out, it could be the pathetic COVID response and the second wave of cases incoming. It could be all of the horrible side effects from contracting it, the lack of companies that have a plan to reduce/prevent the spread, the health insurance that is trash in the US.

Also, if that small amount of money is disincentivizing people from returning to work, perhaps what they're willing to pay is also trash and they should perhaps raise the wages. If only there was a system, like a government, that could increase the minimum businesses can pay...

Friend owns very successful restaurant, told me not one employee will agree to return to work while getting the extra $600. If they open back up would have to hire an entire new staff. Undecided what to do, might close...

My nephew just graduated college in May and was working a summer job at a catering store before and is now making $1K a week in unemployment. His boss called and wanted him back and he laughed and said why would I work hard for 250 a week when I can make 1k playing video games

If unemployment pays $400 a week, why would he come back for $250 a week? Even without the CARES act, $250 is terrible wages
